How to sell property online in India: prepare and post your listing

Selling online starts with a clear, accurate listing—not a promise of a quick sale. Use this checklist to prepare your property and submit it through RealEstate site.in’s existing listing form.

1. Gather the property facts

Prepare a descriptive title, property type and sale purpose. Write down the state, city or town, locality, address and any useful location details. Use the property’s actual location rather than the nearest famous city.

For a home, collect the area, area unit, bedrooms, bathrooms and relevant amenities. For land, record the measured plot area and unit. Describe the condition, access and known limitations honestly; leave out unconfirmed distances or future development promises.

2. Set an unambiguous asking price

Decide whether you are quoting the total property price or a rate per area unit, and select the matching price basis in the form. A rate for one unit of land is not the total purchase price. Confirm both the area and total amount before advertising.

The form requires a readable, positive price and checks India-specific price limits. If a value is rejected, check the amount, price basis and sale or rent selection rather than entering a made-up number to get past the check.

3. Prepare photographs you may publish

Use current photographs of the actual property. Useful views include rooms, the exterior, access and plot boundaries. Only upload photographs, plans or brochures you own or have permission to publish; avoid exposing personal documents or unrelated people.

Wait for uploads to finish before submitting. When you add media in the full form, you must confirm your right to publish it; the quick form uses a combined declaration. Photographs help buyers inspect the property but are not a substitute for a site visit.

4. Sign in and complete the listing form

Open List your property and sign in if prompted. Select India and your role as an owner, then complete the property details, location, price and contact information.

The submission checks require a title, state, city or town, price, contact name, phone or WhatsApp number and the advertising declaration. Use a number where you can respond to genuine enquiries. Review the displayed contact details carefully before publishing them.

5. Review your authority and declarations

Confirm that you are authorised to advertise and that the information is accurate. Supply applicable project registration details where required. The full India form requires builders to provide a builder or promoter name and a project RERA number; this is not the same as every individual owner needing a new registration.

A listing review is not a legal check of ownership, title or approvals. Get qualified advice if you are unsure what documents or permissions apply to your property.

6. Submit, then check your dashboard

After a successful submission, the listing enters pending review; it is not automatically public. Use the dashboard link on the confirmation screen to check its status and review the details. If the form reports missing information or a listing allowance issue, resolve that message before trying again.

Once approved, check the public property page for accurate photos, location, price and contact details. Keep the listing current and update its status when the property is no longer available.

7. Respond to enquiries safely

Answer practical questions about the property, arrange visits with suitable precautions and keep a record of agreed terms. Never share passwords, verification codes or private identity documents just because someone claims to be a buyer.

A listing or an enquiry does not guarantee a sale. RealEstate site.in is a listing and advertising platform, not your broker or legal adviser; independently verify people, documents and payment arrangements.
